A Few Simple and Completely Free Tips for Energizing Your Home-Based Business; Or Your Money Back

Twenty four hours in a day, just as always; yet it seems as though there’s never enough time to even come close to accomplishing everything you planed.   Even with all of our exceptional technical gadgets, (and they are truly cool) we still find ourselves only completing a fraction of what we had set out to do that day.   My complete respect to those who are able to stay focused enough to accomplish their daily goals with young children in the house.   Just taking care of kids by itself  can be exhausting;  add to that the daunting task of starting and maintaining your own businesses is really quite an accomplishment.   Kudos to you.   I’m single with no children and there are times when I too feel like I could use a few more hours in the day.  Though I have no excuse.  There are however, some very simple and free strategies that successful people adhere to, that allows them to stay focused and goal oriented.

I know for fact that my personal productivity level is at a maximum as long as my place is neat and organized.  Though isn’t it amazing how fast a place can go from looking perfectly neat and tidy to  embarrassingly messy and cluttered?   If we remove the clutter from our offices, closets, homes, and cars, we will be rewarded with a clearer and sharper mind and spirit; thus allowing us the energy to get more accomplished.   Not only that, but you just feel so much better about yourself and your surroundings.   It’s also a great aid in loosing weight.   If we can free ourselves from all the clutter,  it’s really a win win.    And yes, I did say cars.  I know there are a lot of you out there with some very messy cars.  Now don’t think that people haven’t noticed or commented about your situation.   Now I’m not referring to those with small children and mini-vans.  I would imagine it’s pretty close to impossible to keep those clean.   However,  those who are using their cars  as a trash can / dirty laundry hamper on wheels, and  then putting their business and future business colleagues into the front seat with all those germs enclosed around them are really doing themselves a disservice.  Your leasing that brand new car to give the impression that you have more money than you really do, and  then you leave junk and trash all over the seats and floors.   What a waste.   In my humble opinion.  (was that harsh?)

Now that your place is all organized you can finally find your calendar which is another great tool for staying on target.   When you set up a calendar for your day, week or month you’re really setting yourself up for success.   Even with the over abundance of technology,  sometimes just simply writing down your list of things to tackle in an allotment of time will really help you to stay focused and extremely productive.   Those of you with children who are very busy with extra curricular activities really know about the necessity of a wall calendar.    Your business deserves the same attention.   Set up your activities for the day and stick to it.  That way you won’t be so distracted with the flirtation of procrastination.   Believe me, I know all too well how seductive procrastination can be.   We had a pretty serious thing going for years.

One activity that we must make sure to schedule into our daily calendar is exercise.   Now hold on, I hear the moans from some of you.  I’m a firm believer in doing what feels good.  The key to being successful with exercise is actually finding something that you enjoy.  If you hate gyms, then try dancing, or roller-blading, yoga, fencing, or simply taking a ten minute walk will do wonders for your health (mind and body).    Find something that really brings you joy.  Experiment with different routes or exercises to mix it up a bit if you like.  Especially for those of us who spend a lot of time sitting at a desk or computer.  Getting out into the fresh air and moving the body is really invigorating.   Regardless of how much you have to talk yourself into doing it, you always feel so much better after you’ve finished.   For me, it’s an absolute necessity to have music playing while working out.   One of my careers is that of a professional vocalist and violinist.  Music is a huge part of my life; even now I have Chris Boti playing in the background.   Find out what works for you at that particular moment in time.

Obviously, these are just a few of the many ideas used to insure a successful home and/or business.   I know these strategies are extremely simple really, but I also know these small steps can lead to some real giant leaps and bounds to any business career.

Well, that’s my two cents for the day.   As always, feel free to post your comments or reactions.
